Heartbreak Happens
Hello readers! Long time, no talk; and for that, I am truly sorry. I've been experiencing post-grad 20-something life, and it hasn't been what I would call "fun."
I have grown up more in the past few months than I have in the last 22 years of my life, and I owe all of that to heartbreak. Now don't get caught up thinking this is some mopey post about a boy because it isn't. (And trust me, I would be the LAST person to give advice about that.)
Heartbreak happens all the time. You lose a friend. You get rejected from a job. You realize that bad things happen to good people and that money means way more than you ever thought. And yes, sometimes you do lose love.
This transitional time in my life is full of heartbreak of all kinds; and sadly, I wasn't prepared for any of it. But as a result, it's also full of discovery. Every experience no matter how bad it seems holds within it a blessing and purpose. The goal is to find that and create space for something new.
Don't avoid pursuing happiness because you're scared. Embrace the vulnerability and potential for heartbreak. Chase after what you love ferociously, and don't feel stupid or inferior if you don't get it on the first try because I sure as hell have not. Realize your own greatness and passion. And NEVER let anybody (including yourself) fault you for that.
Heartbreak has also led me to some pretty incredible humans, and for that, I am forever grateful. One of these humans sent me this. I feel it's applicable here.
"and you
are not stupid. you loved a man
with more hands than a parade
of beggars, and here you stand. heart
like a four-poster bed. heart like a canvas.
heart leaking something so strong
they can smell it in the street."
