OUR FAVORITE THINGS: Top 4 Favorite Blogs

[Welcome to Our Favorite Things, a series featuringyou guessed it!our favorite things. From books to brands to tunes to film, these are all things we at Windrose want to shout from the rooftops about.]

Though I run this blog, I can’t say that I follow an extensive list of other blogs regularly. Whoops. However, there are 4 blogs that are my go-tos when I’m in the mood to do some internet readin’.

1. Hannah Brencher

My roommate (and That First Year writer, Chelsey) recommended the memoir If You Find This Letter by Hannah Brencher last year in what was an emotionally virulent summer for me. Two pages in, I was already crying, which means that two pages in, I was already sold on the book. I finished it in a matter of days. Not only did the story of the challenges of her post-grad year resonate with me, but I also fell in love with her writing style. Her blog posts are life-giving, and I low-key wish I could be her best friend slash write as well as she does.

2. The Financial Diet

I love talking about budgeting; it’s where my need to control everything can be acceptably put to use. So The Financial Diet is one of my favorite blogs because it openly talks about money, but in a way that features personal experiences rather than posts written in dry, financy-speak. I've also written a few posts for TFD over the years.

3. Meg Fee

I discovered Meg’s blog two springs ago, and I instantly became a regularly returning reader. She writes so beautifully and honestly that I can’t help but wish I could capture a moment in words as well as she can. Her writing focuses primarily on life while also sharing quotes, playlists and photos of her (former) home in NYC as well as her travels. I may or may not frequently tear up when I read her posts, because her words are just that good, and I am an emotional mush when it comes to good words.

Update July 2017: Meg's first book will be published next spring!

4. Yellow Conference Blog

The Yellow Conference is an organization of women that hosts a yearly conference and more for creative entrepreneurs in Los Angeles. Just recently, they launched the Yellow Collective, a membership that hosts monthly gatherings and offers resources for ladies looking to change the world through entrepreneurship (I just joined in July 2017!). The blog features posts related to running your own business and developing your passions. This breakdown of the 22 steps a graphic designer took to start her own business has been my favorite post so far.
